Wroyal, formerly known as DJ Wendy-Rai (Ray) is an ambitious, young woman who enjoys serving her community as a firefighter by day and has entertained them by night as one of the DMV’s highly sought after DJs.  She's been "Wrockin" the turntables since 2012 and has been featured on Fox 5 News, where she DJ’d between segments and has frequented the airways of gogoradio.com as a DJ and on air personality. She has “Wrocked” countless functions to include weddings, birthday parties, sporting events etc. and is known for giving her clients the “Wroyal Treatment" with a customized playlist, live (not pre-recorded performances), skillful mixing, and genuine consultations and interactions.

 

Prior to discovering the turntables, she spent 4 years [2009-2013] as lead vocalist of the award winning, DC based, all female band Be’la Dona.  With them, she performed on the “Tom Joyner Cruise”, and as the opening act for Lauryn Hill and MC Lyte at the Kennedy Center for BET’s “Black Girls Rock”.  In 2011, she was apart of the “Black Girls Rock” tour band, where she was the opening act and sang background vocals for Estelle, Erykah Badu, Melanie Fiona, and Avery Sunshine in LA, NY, and DC.  Her vocal performances have earned her Wammy Awards for 2010 and 2011.  She has had the honor of singing background vocals for Go-Go legends Chuck Brown, Sugar Bear and many other international artist.  Her singles “Did You Ever Really Love Me” and “Dark Side” resonate with the hearts of women and are both heartfelt and empowering. Articles highlighting her double life as a firefighter/entertainer have been featured in the Washington Post and Gazette news papers.  

 

Wroyal is no stranger to hard work and isn’t afraid to try new things.  In 2014, she held leading roles in several gospel stage plays and earned her first official acting credit in the movie “Sheets of Deception”. She is featured on the cover of the novel “Where Did We Go Wrong” and its sequel “Where Did We Go Wrong, Again?”  The book is a best-seller on Amazon and can be found on the shelves of Books-A-Million.

 

This lover of life strives daily to be the best version of herself and is living proof that dedication and hard work can take you a long way.  So far she is a firefighter, DJ, singer, actress, radio personality, book cover model, wife and mom.  Throughout her career she has continued to blossom into an overall entertainer and community role model.  Keep your ears open!!!  If you listen hard enough, you can hear her Wrockin’ your favorite tune right now!  THIS DJ WROCKS!!!!
